JNTY°QF H4 <br />COUNTY OF HAWAPI STATE OF HAWAPI <br />,ti OF Nh <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1324 23 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE ISLAND OF <br />HAWAII YMCA FOR THE PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION OF AN ICE MACHINE. <br />WHEREAS, the Island of Hawaii YMCA (YMCA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization <br />that supports local communities by implementing programs and activities in areas of youth <br />development, healthy living, and social responsibility; and <br />WHEREAS, the YMCA coordinates and supports qualifying community events and <br />programs that increase awareness, connection, and foster a healthy lifestyle, such as fitness <br />classes for all ages, International Denim Day, Community Town Hall meetings with government <br />officials, and fundraisers for various causes; and <br />WHEREAS, the YMCA is also a resilience hub through Vibrant Hawaii, coordinating <br />and participating in events and programs that increase community preparedness and resilience, <br />such as the Kaukau 4 Keiki summer feeding, COVID test kit distributions, health and <br />employment fairs, youth enrichment camps, and junior leadership programs; and <br />WHEREAS, the YMCA lacks the resources to adequately maintain coolers for preserving <br />perishable foods, cooked meals, and beverages during community events and programs; and <br />WHEREAS, the YMCA is requesting funds to purchase and install an ice machine that <br />will increase the capacity and ability to provide food and chilled beverages for community events <br />and programs; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations and programs that <br />provide drug-free and alcohol -free events that enrich the lives of Hawaii Island's community <br />members; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br />activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Island of I-lawai'l YMCA for the purchase and <br />installation of an ice machine. <br />
