COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII RESOLUTION NO. A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO N,,k MAMO HA'AHEO TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATING TO AN ART SERIES USING HAWAIIAN PLANTS. WHEREAS, Na Mamo Ha'aheo is a 5 01 (c)(3) nonprofit organization that promotes culture and traditions of the various ethnicities in Hawaii, with an emphasis on perpetuating Hawaiian culture through its programs that educate participants in the arts of lei -making and pd'a horseback riding; and WHEREAS, Na Mamo Ha'aheo is working with community lei -makers to convene An Art Series Using Hawaiian Plants to be held once per month from November 2023 to February 2024;and WHEREAS, the purpose of An Art Series Using Hawaiian Plants is to perpetuate the Hawaiian culture through lei -making and creating art using flora and fauna found on Hawaii Island; and WHEREAS, the participants will gain knowledge from start to finish to carry on the lei - making traditions of their kumu; and WHEREAS, Na Mamo Ha'aheo is requesting funds to assist with expenses for facility rentals, permit fees, food and refreshments, lei -making consultants, and lei -making supplies and materials; and WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations that provide programs, projects, or activities in a drug -free and alcohol -free environment; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAIII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to Na Mamo Ha'aheo to assist with expenses relating to An Art Series Using Hawaiian Plants.
