M <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO NO NA `OPIO TO <br />ASSIST NA HOA O PUNA SOCCER WITH ITS NA HOA CUP TOURNAMENT. <br />WHEREAS, No Nd `Opio is a 501(e)(3) nonprofit organization that strives to support <br />the children of East Hawaii by offering opportunities to engage in physical, spiritual, and <br />cognitive development through participation in recreational and cultural practices; and <br />WHEREAS, No Na `Opio is partnering with Na Hoa O Puna Soccer to host its annual <br />Na Hoa Cup, an island -wide soccer tournament for children ages 6 to 14, which will be held on <br />December 2-3, 2023, at the Buddy Perry Soccer Field at Herbert Shipman Park in Kea`au, <br />Hawaii; and <br />WHEREAS, the Nd Hoa Cup tournament is a drug -free and alcohol -free community <br />event that encourages physical health, well-being, teamwork, and leadership opportunities for <br />children while engaging adult volunteers as coaches and support staff, and <br />WHEREAS, No Nd `Opio is requesting funding assistance to purchase new goals, nets, <br />and uniforms for the Nd Hoa Cup tournament; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports drug -free and alcohol -free <br />activities and events that enrich the lives of community members and enhance the well-being of <br />Hawaii Island residents; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br />activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Liquor Control to provide a grant to No Na `Opio to assist Nd Hoa O Puna Soccer with its Nd <br />Hoa Cup tournament. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
