No. 572/Res. No. 340-23 <br />Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 340-23, reports as follows: <br />Resolution No. 340-23, transmitted by Finance Director Deanna S. Sako, via Communication No. 572 <br />dated October 26, 2023, creates two new Information Technology Specialist IV positions, one new <br />Information Technology Specialist V position, one new Information Technology Specialist VI position <br />and one new Information Technology Specialist VII position for the Department of Information <br />Technology. <br />This resolution establishes five new positions to maintain operational standards, increase vigilance in <br />cybersecurity and focus on in-depth strategies to increase cyber maturity. <br />Finance Director Deanna Sako provided background on this measure. <br />Committee Member Jenn Kagiwada asked Ms. Sako if these positions were in addition to those added <br />during the budget season, which Ms. Sako confirmed. Ms. Kagiwada thanked Ms. Sako and said she <br />would support this measure. <br />Committee Chair Matt Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder asked Ms. Sako how many new positions were created for <br />the IT (Information Technology) Department. Ms. Sako stated that this measure proposes five new <br />positions and ten positions were added to the budget for the current fiscal year. <br />Committee Member Michelle Galimba asked for clarification on the word "cyber maturity" used in the <br />resolution. Ms. Galimba commented that the term relates to our cyber systems' ability to withstand <br />cyber attacks. Ms. Sako stated that she believed that to be correct but would double-check with the <br />department as she believes that this could be a typo and that the department might have meant "cyber <br />security." <br />FC Report No. 109 <br />
