COUNTY OF HAWAI`I •: `•'=°- '' • STATE OF HAWAII <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 378 23 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO BIG ISLAND WAVE <br /> RIDERS AGAINST DRUGS TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH THE <br /> WEST HAWAII COMMUNITY BEACH CLEANUP. <br /> WHEREAS, Big Island Wave Riders Against Drugs is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit <br /> organization whose purpose is to create a healthy and drug-free community throughout the State <br /> of Hawai`i by perpetuating the practice of surfing and promoting community sustainability <br /> through care and respect for people, land, and sea; and <br /> WHEREAS, Big Island Wave Riders Against Drugs, along with numerous organizations <br /> and community groups, are coordinating the annual West Hawai`i Community Beach Cleanup <br /> between Kawaihae and Miloli`i, which will take place on March 9, 2024; and <br /> WHEREAS, Big Island Wave Riders Against Drugs is requesting funds for radio <br /> advertisements, t-shirts, lunch, and goodie bags for each participant of the beach cleanup; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports public and youth programs that <br /> promote alcohol- and drug-free events, such as this beach cleanup initiative to provide a safe and <br /> healthy environment for the community; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency, Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to Big Island Wave Riders Against Drugs to assist with <br /> expenses associated with the West Hawai`i Community Beach Cleanup. <br /> • BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
