COUNTY OF HAWAI`I (* *) STATE OF HAWAI`I <br /> .rF............... <br /> F N'� <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 382 23 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAWAI`I ISLAND <br /> VETERANS MEMORIAL INC. FOR THE WALL THAT HEALS EXHIBIT. <br /> WHEREAS, Hawai`i Island Veterans Memorial Inc. (HIVM) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit <br /> organization that provides community projects, programs, and activities to improve the lives of <br /> all veterans and their families living on Hawai`i Island; and <br /> WHEREAS, HIVM is working with community veterans, the Vietnam Veterans <br /> Memorial Fund (VVMF), and the Department of Parks and Recreation to host The Wall That <br /> Heals exhibit, a three-quarter-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial located in <br /> Washington, D.C., which will be free to the public at Mo`oheau Park on January 22-28, 2024; and <br /> WHEREAS,the 53-foot trailer that carries The Wall That Heals has exhibits built into its <br /> sides, converting the trailer into a mobile Education Center that provides additional information <br /> about the Vietnam War, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, and those that served during the war; and <br /> WHEREAS, HIVM is requesting funds to help offset expenses for electrical generators, <br /> shrink wrap for the trailer, and a site fee to VVMF to display The Wall That Heals; and <br /> WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Parks and Recreation is to provide <br /> events and activities that address the needs and interests of our diverse communities; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br /> service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Hawai`i Island Veterans Memorial Inc. for The Wall <br /> That Heals exhibit to be showcased in Hilo. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
