COUNTY OF HAWAI`I : •� `'- '� • STATE OF HAWAI`I <br /> % <br /> TE OF.M'� <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 40 S 24 <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND <br /> RECREATION TO AWARD FUNDS TO HAWAI`I ISLAND VETERAN'S <br /> MEMORIAL, INC. <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawaii <br /> County Code (2016 Edition as amended) states, Grant awards in excess of$25,000 <br /> to nonprofit organizations shall specifically identify the organization receiving the <br /> grant funds and the purpose for which the grant funds shall be used in an ordinance <br /> or resolution; and <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-136(5) of the Hawaii County <br /> Code states, "nonprofit organization" means an organization organized for other than <br /> profit-making purposes and which has a current 501(c)3 tax-exemption from the <br /> Internal Revenue Code; and <br /> WHEREAS, Hawaii Island Veteran's Memorial, Inc., which qualifies as a <br /> nonprofit organization as defined above, will utilize the funds towards their "The Wall <br /> That Heals — Hawai'i County" project; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation wishes to provide <br /> $45,000 to Hawaii Island Veteran's Memorial, Inc.; now, therefore <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I, in <br /> accordance with Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawaii County <br /> Code, the Department of Parks and Recreation is authorized to provide a grant of <br /> $45,000 to Hawaii Island Veteran's Memorial, Inc. to provide services as indicated <br /> above. <br />
