•,;N`y OF• <br /> �16G•:. <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII �'', '/ • STATE OF HAWAII <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 413 24 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAWAII ISLAND <br /> ADULT CARE FOR TUITION ASSISTANCE FOR ITS HILO ADULT DAY <br /> PROGRAM. <br /> WHEREAS, Hawai`i Island Adult Care (HIAC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization <br /> that has been providing services for kupuna, challenged adults, families, and caregivers since <br /> 1976; and <br /> WHEREAS, HIAC provides adult day care six days a week, and most holidays, and is <br /> licensed to serve up to 105 participants each day in a safe and social space to meet the diverse <br /> needs of the individuals and their families; and <br /> WHEREAS,the services that HIAC provides allows kupuna and challenged adults to <br /> continue living at home rather than an institution, providing assurance to family members that <br /> their loved ones are well cared for in a nurturing environment during the day; and <br /> WHEREAS, HIAC is requesting funding to provide tuition assistance for participants in <br /> its Hilo Adult Day Program who have demonstrated a financial need; and <br /> WHEREAS, HIAC has partnered with the Office of Aging in the past and upholds its <br /> mission to optimize the health, safety, and independence of Hawai`i's older adults; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the Office of Aging to <br /> provide a grant to HIAC for tuition assistance for its Hilo Adult Day Program. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
