REQUEST: <br /> Resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into a multi-year lease agreement for four (4) 120 CU YD Walking <br /> Floor Trailers. <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> The Solid Waste Division utilizes walking floor trailers to haul refuse from various transfer stations and the <br /> East Hawaii Regional Sort Station to the West Hawaii Sanitary Landfill. <br /> The Division is requesting to purchase four 120 CU YD Walking Floor Trailers to add to its fleet. The <br /> additional trailers are required to keep up with Hawaii Islands population growth, ensure the Division is able <br /> to meet the expected increase and ensure Hawaii Island communities maintain the same level of service <br /> provided currently. The additional trailers will enable the Division to handle increased volumes of waste and <br /> ensure that the Division remains in compliance with the rules and regulations of the State Department of <br /> Health. <br /> This equipment will be leased financed such that the County will own the equipment at the end of a five year <br /> lease. The purchase prices is estimated at $226,000 per trailer or$904,000 for all four.
