• <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII !-i4‘. -.L'-ffH STATE OF HAWAII <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 445 24 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO ROOT & RISE <br /> HAWAII FOR EXPENSES RELATING TO ITS NATURE & ART AS THERAPY <br /> WORKSHOPS. <br /> WHEREAS, Root&Rise Hawai`i is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission <br /> is to cultivate social and emotional wellness through integrative and therapeutic mental health <br /> programs that are accessible to underserved populations; and <br /> WHEREAS, one of its programs,Nature &Art as Therapy (NAT),provides support to <br /> adults with mental health challenges through its nature- and art-based workshops that are free to <br /> the public; and <br /> WHEREAS, Root&Rise Hawai`i has developed 18 NAT workshops to be held <br /> throughout Kona and Ka`u from January through June 2024 to help provide mental health <br /> support, increase self-esteem, teach life skills, create a sense of belonging, engage in creativity, <br /> and connect to nature; and <br /> WHEREAS, Root&Rise Hawai`i is requesting funds for subcontracted facilitators, an <br /> iPad (plus case and keyboard), printing expenses, workshop materials and supplies, and snacks to <br /> support its NAT workshops from January to June 2024; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations that focus on <br /> mental health and wellness through alcohol-free and drug-free programs; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program,project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to Root& Rise Hawai`i for expenses relating to its Nature & <br /> Art as Therapy workshops. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
