Note:organizations are required to <br /> have at least one year of experience with the proposed service/activity OR can demonstrate sufficient expertise. <br /> 1.Provide your organization's mission statement.* <br /> After-School All-Stars Hawaii(ASAS Hawaii)provides after-school and summer programs that keep children <br /> safe and help them reach their potential in school and in life. <br /> 2.In 500'characters,provide a brief narrative about your organization's experience,knowledge,and capacity to <br /> carry out the proposed program/service.* <br /> ASAS Hawaii meets the need for quality out-of-school programs in some of the lowest performing schools in <br /> Hawaii.Since 2009,20,760 children have attended ASAS Hawaii after-school and summer programs in Title I <br /> schools.Over this time,there has been consistent demand for after-school activities for middle/intermediate <br /> students.Public and private funding is needed to ensure this essential community resource is available for low- <br /> income children and their families. <br /> 3.In 1,000 characters,briefly describe the program/service you are seeking grant funds for.* <br /> Career Exploration Opportunities will expose students to learning and leadership activities as part of daily after- <br /> school programs for 1,000 middle/intermediate school students. <br /> This program will engage students with career and entrepreneurship classes,youth leadership,and service <br /> learning.Career and entrepreneurship classes will expose participants to various career paths,as they develop <br /> their goals,gain applicable skills and begin to envision exciting futures.Students will build leadership skills <br /> through the Youth Advisory Board.Members will collectively navigate school or community issues and plan <br /> service projects,learning new skills and working together toward shared goals.Through service learning, <br /> students will contribute to positive change in their communities. <br /> This will be part of free after-school programs available to all students in three Hawaii County schools.After- <br /> school programs operate for at least three hours every day,following the regular school calendar. <br /> After-School All-Stars Hawaii-Career Exploration Opportunities <br />
