4oJ9`r os--------- COUNTY OF HAWAII � • STATE OF HAWAI`I • qTE•.'.• ...,- RESOLUTION NO. 45,31.2..; ., A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE ARC OF HILO FOR THE 3RD ANNUAL KING KAMEHAMEHA'S AWESOME ATHLETES INCLUSIVE CANOE RACE. WHEREAS, The Arc of Hilo is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and since 1954, it has been helping people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to lead productive and community-driven lives; and WHEREAS, the King Kamehameha's Awesome Athletes Inclusive Canoe Race welcomes individuals with disabilities to participate in a culturally and historically significant sporting activity; and WHEREAS, The Arc of Hilo is partnering with nonprofits `Ohana Wa'a Laulima and OSMD (Operation Sammy Muscular Dystrophy) Hawaii Foundation, as well as countless paddlers and volunteers, to host the 3rd Annual King Kamehameha's Awesome Athletes Inclusive Canoe Race to be held on June 2, 2024, at Hilo Bayfront Beach; and WHEREAS, The Arc of Hilo is requesting funds for the purchase of identification name tags and lanyards and for the rental of a safety boat and flagger, handheld transceivers, portable toilets, and a sound system for the 3rd Annual King Kamehameha's Awesome Athletes Inclusive Canoe Race event; and WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation provides and facilitates a wide array of services and programs that meet the needs of the Hawai`i Island community and is supportive of this initiative to provide recreational opportunities to those with disabilities; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to The Arc of Hilo for the 3rd Annual King Kamehameha's Awesome Athletes Inclusive Canoe Race event at Hilo Bayfront Beach. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
