IV OF <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAI`I STATE OF HAWAI`I <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 461 24 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE BIG ISLAND <br /> RESOURCE CONSERVATION AND DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL FOR THE <br /> PURCHASE OF CITRIC ACID TO CONTROL COQUI FROGS IN COUNCIL <br /> DISTRICT 8. <br /> WHEREAS, West Hawai`i residents continue to fight the coqui frog infestation using <br /> citric acid; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Big Island Resource Conservation and Development Council <br /> (BIRCDC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports conservation, agricultural research, <br /> and economic development on Hawai`i Island; and <br /> WHEREAS, BIRCDC is requesting funds to purchase citric acid to assist the West <br /> Hawai`i residents in Council District 8 with controlling coqui frogs in their neighborhoods; and <br /> WHEREAS, one of the objectives of the Department of Research and Development is to <br /> support research or extension projects on invasive species, such as the coqui frog; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Research and Development to provide a grant to BIRCDC for the purchase of citric acid to <br /> control the coqui frog infestation in Council District 8. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
