COUNTY OF HAWAI`I -•� `",= '� STATE OF HAWAI`I <br /> 7TE OF•H/.f* <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 468 24 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE BIG ISLAND <br /> RESOURCE CONSERVATION DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL TO PURCHASE CITRIC <br /> ACID TO HELP CONTROL COQUI FROGS IN COUNCIL DISTRICT 7. <br /> WHEREAS, West Hawai`i residents continue to fight the coqui frog infestation using <br /> citric acid; and <br /> WHEREAS, the coqui frog population is persistently high, especially at the lower <br /> elevation, which remains a constant threat to Hawai`i's island ecosystem because of its voracious <br /> appetite that puts our unique insects and spiders at risk; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Big Island Resource Conservation Development Council (BIRCDC) is <br /> a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports conservation, agricultural research, and <br /> economic development, and which has assisted the County in its effort to control the coqui frog <br /> infestation; and <br /> WHEREAS, BIRCDC is requesting funds to purchase citric acid to continue assisting <br /> the public with controlling the coqui frog infestation in Council District 7; and <br /> WHEREAS, one of the objectives of the Department of Research and Development is to <br /> support research or extension projects on invasive species, such as the coqui frog; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Research and Development to provide a grant to the Big Island Resource Conservation <br /> Development Council to purchase citric acid to help control the coqui frog infestation in Council <br /> District 7. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
