COUNTY OF HAWAI`I {' �:''- `'�/ • STATE OF HAWAI`I <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 478 24 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING THE SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE WAIMEA <br /> PRESERVATION ASSOCIATION FOR ITS FRIENDS OF WAIMEA CERT PROJECT. <br /> WHEREAS, the Waimea Preservation Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization <br /> whose mission is to bring people together to protect and honor the cultural, historical, and natural <br /> resources of Waimea; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Friends of Waimea CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) is <br /> a unit of volunteers dedicated to preparing for and responding to for hazards that threaten their <br /> communities; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Friends of Waimea CERT training and preparation will allow <br /> community members to respond and assist each other by providing damage assessment, search <br /> and rescue, first aid, and communication in those hours between an incident and the return of <br /> services from official first responders; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Waimea Preservation Association, in partnership with Friends of <br /> Waimea CERT, is requesting funds to purchase two portable inverter generators and two <br /> emergency stand lights for remote location support; and <br /> WHEREAS the Hawai`i Fire Department supports public programs that provide Hawai`i <br /> County residents with exceptional, all hazards emergency services; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program,project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Hawai`i Fire <br /> Department to provide a grant to the Waimea Preservation Association to support the programs <br /> and activities of Friends of Waimea CERT. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
