i• '40•` ,1ni <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAI`I I• :=°-� !/_� STATE OF HAWAII <br /> f'•.M�M r <br /> Ott OFHF'� <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 492 24 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE HAWAI`I <br /> SOCIETY OF OBSTETRICIANS AND GYNECOLOGISTS TO SUPPORT ITS <br /> RESIDENCY ROTATION PROGRAM. <br /> WHEREAS, the Hawai`i Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (HSOG) is a <br /> 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose purpose is to advance the cooperation and interaction of <br /> physicians involved in Women's Health Care and to improve and expand Women's Health Care; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, the State of Hawai`i is facing a severe shortage of health care providers <br /> with rural communities such as the County of Hawai`i experiencing higher rates of vacancies <br /> than urban communities; and <br /> WHEREAS, HSOG is working in collaboration with the University of Hawai`i's John A. <br /> Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM) Residency Training Program in Obstetrics and <br /> Gynecology to address the physician shortage on Hawai`i Island through its Residency Rotation <br /> Program that rotates twelve 3rd and 4th year medical resident physicians to Hawai`i Island for <br /> training to increase rural health medical practitioners on Hawaii Island; and <br /> WHEREAS, HSOG is requesting funds to assist with resident housing for twelve 3rd and <br /> 4th year medical resident physicians to practice on a monthly rotation at Hilo Medical Center; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Research and Development is to <br /> advance our island economy through diverse job and entrepreneurial opportunities; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br /> service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Research and Development to provide a grant to the Hawai`i Society of Obstetricians and <br /> Gynecologists to support its Residency Rotation Program. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
