COUNTY OF HAWAI`I I =•• ' •' e' .: STATE OF HAWAI`I <br /> ___," <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 508 24 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HOSPICE OF HILO <br /> FOR ITS 20TH ANNUAL CELEBRATION OF LIFE EVENT AT REEDS BAY BEACH <br /> PARK. <br /> WHEREAS, Hospice of Hilo, doing business as Hawai`i Care Choices, is a 501(c)(3) <br /> nonprofit organization that provides medical, social, and spiritual services for terminally ill <br /> patients at their end of life, as well as providing support to their families and caregivers; and <br /> WHEREAS, Hospice of Hilo is hosting the 20th Annual Celebration of Life, a <br /> community event to be held on Sunday, May 26, 2024, from noon to 7:30 p.m. at Reeds Bay <br /> Beach Park to commemorate the lives of loved ones who have passed and to spread awareness <br /> and education about end-of-life decisions; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Celebration of Life features a Lights of Remembrance ceremony, which <br /> is Hawai`i Island's largest lantern floating event, as well as an array of activities and music <br /> designed to bring people together to honor loved ones who have passed in a reflection of love; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, Hospice of Hilo is requesting funds to assist with its radio advertisement <br /> expenses; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations that provide <br /> programs, projects, or activities in a drug-free and alcohol-free environment; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment,materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to Hospice of Hilo for its 20th Annual Celebration of Life <br /> event at Reeds Bay Beach Park. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
