;�SV•oF H, COUNTY OF HAWAI`I . ,1;L'I-; ,1•1> STATE OF HAWAI`I .�o` f� E OF•H--------: RESOLUTION NO. 511 24 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE HILO HIGH SCHOOL FOUNDATION FOR THE 2024 HILO HIGH GRAD NITE. WHEREAS, the Hilo High School Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that assists Hilo High School and its students with programs and activities, including the Hilo High Grad Nite; and WHEREAS,the Hilo High Grad Nite provides a safe, secure, and supervised celebration alternative to the traditional graduation parties that involve underage drinking, illegal substance use, and unsupervised late-night partying that normally results in drinking and driving, all of which pose a hazard to the community; and WHEREAS,this alcohol- and drug-free event provides the parents and families of the graduates with the peace of mind that their child is in a safe and wholesome environment after graduation; and WHEREAS, the Hilo High School Foundation is requesting funds for the rental of a sound system and lighting equipment for the 2024 Hilo High Grad Nite; and WHEREAS, one of the Department of Liquor Control's goals is to support programs that promote the health, education, and well-being of the youth in our community with alcohol- and drug-free events such as graduation ceremonies; and WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Hilo High School Foundation for the 2024 Hilo High Grad Nite. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
