DESCRIPTION ACTIONS LEAD <br /> IMPLEMENTER <br /> SHORT TERM[approximately 1-2 years . . <br /> Invasive Species Career Pathways Project <br /> The development of a summer service-learning program <br /> will assist BIISC in meeting its invasive species management ► Summer service training <br /> goals while providing job training and experience to program.Paid UH <br /> students seeking jobs in agriculture and forestry upon student/recent graduate <br /> graduation.Through this project,students will learn how to <br /> identify common native and invasive plants,manage field positions in invasive species BIISC6 <br /> gear and tools,operate small machinery,select and use management.Year 1:survey, <br /> pesticides safely,use appropriate PPE,use technology tools control,data collection, <br /> including GPS,mobile mapping and data collection/record- pesticide safety,basic field <br /> keeping apps,and communicate effectively with operations,first aide. <br /> supervisors,co-workers,and the public. <br /> Regenerative,Sustainable,and Resilient Agronomics/Cropping Technologies <br /> ► Add dedicated hire to revamp <br /> curriculum and leverage ag <br /> network to incorporate new <br /> technologies in curriculum and <br /> Develop courses and internal programs that leverage UH's outreach training • • <br /> academic and industrial network to access technologies for ► Seek to translate technologies EMI <br /> demonstration in Hawai'i,then incorporate these developed for large-scale crops CAFNRM <br /> approaches into CAFNRM curriculum(including accessible to Hawaii conditions <br /> short courses)and outreach training. ► Work with farmers on evidence- <br /> based approaches for continual <br /> improvement,and expand UH <br /> field trial sites <br /> ► Host visiting researchers <br /> Enhancing Business Acumen IMI Expanding/Diversifying the Workforce Enhancing Sector Value Chain <br /> Reducing Threats I Increasing Market Size *_ Increasing Productivity <br /> 12 <br />
