(-- <br /> ........ <br /> ...0,.9,....., <br /> ... „.„:„ ,,o;, .., <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII •_ :-' >> 4 .• STATE OF HAWAII <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 532 24 <br /> A RESOLUTION AWARDING THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I "WAIWAI" NONPROFIT <br /> GRANTS-IN-AID FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 2024-2025. <br /> WHEREAS, Section 2-139(a)(1)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code states that the Director <br /> of Finance shall establish a sum of at least $2,500,000 to be available for funding requests by <br /> nonprofit organizations through the County of Hawai`i "Waiwai" grants-in-aid program; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-137 of the Hawai`i County Code,the nonprofit <br /> organizations to receive grant funding shall yield direct benefits to the public through programs <br /> that address educational concerns, culture and the arts,the needs of the poor, youth,the aged, <br /> those with physical or emotional disabilities, victims of crimes, victims of health or social crises, <br /> or public health and welfare of the people and the environment; and <br /> WHEREAS, on March 19, 2024,the Council's Committee on Legislative Approvals and <br /> Acquisitions (LAAC) formed an Ad Hoc Committee for the purposes of reviewing nonprofit <br /> applications and making award recommendations; and <br /> WHEREAS, at a meeting of the LAAC on May 14, 2024, the Ad Hoc Committee <br /> submitted its recommendations via Communication No. 761.2 to award"Waiwai" grants-in-aid <br /> to 58 eligible programs for a total of$2,027,500; and <br /> WHEREAS, a list of the recommended nonprofit organizations to receive funding is <br /> attached hereto and incorporated herein as Exhibit A; now,therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br /> pursuant to Section 2-139 of the Hawai`i County Code, "Waiwai" grants-in-aid totaling <br /> $2,027,500 shall be awarded to the nonprofit organizations as set forth in Exhibit A. <br />
