COUNTY OF HAWAVI <br />STATE OF HAWAI`I <br />RESOLUTION NO. S9 24 <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE HAWAI`I FIRE DEPARTMENT TO <br />AWARD FUNDS TO HAWAVI WILDFIRE MANAGEMENT <br />ORGANIZATION <br />WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawai'i <br />County Code (2016 Edition as amended) states, Grant awards in excess of $25,000 <br />to nonprofit organizations shall specifically identify the organization receiving the <br />grant funds and the purpose for which the grant funds shall be used in an ordinance <br />or resolution; and <br />WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-136(5) of the Hawaii County <br />Code states, "nonprofit organization" means an organization organized for other than <br />profit -making purposes and which has a current 501(c)3 tax -exemption from the <br />Internal Revenue Code; and <br />WHEREAS, Hawaii Wildfire Management Organization (HWMO), which <br />qualifies as a nonprofit organization as defined above, will utilize the funds towards <br />Phase 1 of the "Community Fuels Reduction and Defensible Space" project; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Hawai'l Fire Department wishes to provide <br />$33,200 to HWMO; now, therefore <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI'I, in <br />accordance with Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawai'i County <br />Code, the Department of Hawaii Fire Department is authorized to provide a grant of <br />$33,200 to HWMO to provide services as indicated above. <br />
