REQUEST: <br />PHONE: (808) 961-8366 <br />Requesting a bill to amend Ordinance No. 24-32 to appropriate $ 2,100,000.00 for Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA) <br />funds to fund the following activities. <br />065.3309.23 Federal Grants - Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act $ 2,100,000.00 <br />065. WIOA - Administrative/Planning 2024-25 $ 200,000.00 <br />065. WIOA - Adult Program 2024-25 $ 800,000.00 <br />065. WIOA - Dislocated Worker Program 2024-25 $ 350,000.00 <br />065. WOA - Youth Program 2024-25 $ 750,000.00 <br />Also requesting a resolution to authorize the Mayor of the County of Hawai'i to execute and submit all agreements and other related <br />documents to the State of Hawaii Department of Labor and Industrial Relations Workforce Development Council for the Workforce <br />Innovation and Opportunity Act Program. <br />B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br />This appropriation reflects anticipating funding allocations by the State Department of Labor and Industrial Relations for the Program <br />Year (PY) 2024 WIOA Program. These funds will be utilized to assist adults, dislocated workers, and youth by providing services that <br />will train individuals to increase employment, retention, earnings, skills, and literacy and thereby improving the quality of the <br />Adults/Dislocated Workers and Youth, reducing welfare redundancy, and enhancing the productivity and competitiveness of the local <br />economy. <br />Research & Development (R&D) emphasizes that no County General Funds are involved in these transactions.
