JN�V OF <br />COUNTY OF HAWAI`I STATE OF HAWAI`I <br />�rEoF'N►'fir <br />RESOLUTION NO. 579 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE KEAUKAHA <br />SCHOOL FOUNDATION FOR KEAUKAHA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL'S <br />PRESCHOOL ACTIVITIES IN THE 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR. <br />WHEREAS, the Keaukaha School Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that <br />supports the students and programs of Keaukaha Elementary School; and <br />WHEREAS, Keaukaha Elementary School's "Ma Ka Hana Ka `Ike" (in doing, you <br />learn) preschool program provides educational experiences outside the school campus that are <br />critical to early learning comprehension and to establishing a stronger association with objects <br />and concepts through visual and tactile learning experiences; and <br />WHEREAS, to promote "Ma Ka Hana Ka `Ike" learning, the preschool is coordinating <br />various excursions that will include visits to the Pana`ewa Rainforest Zoo and Gardens, `Imiloa <br />Astronomy Center, Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting Station, Hilo Air Traffic Control Tower, <br />`Aina University, Honomu Goat Dairy, Hilo Headquarters of the Hawaii Police Department, <br />Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, and Prince Kuhio Plaza; and <br />WHEREAS, the Keaukaha School Foundation is requesting funds for transportation fees <br />for field trips, admission fees, activity fees, and associated supplies and materials to enhance <br />school activities and supplement the lessons from the excursions; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports educational excursions <br />and enrichment activities for the youth of Hawaii Island; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br />activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to the Keaukaha School Foundation for Keaukaha <br />Elementary School's preschool activities in the 2024-2025 school year. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
