REQUEST: <br />Resolution authorizing Department of Research and Development to enter into a multi -year <br />agreement (10 years) with Sustainability Partners subsidiary 'Hawaii Island EV, LLC' to replace <br />the inoperable and aging electric vehicle charging stations at West Hawaii Civic Center, Aupuni <br />Center and County Building, and install 4 additional charging stations at West Hawaii Civic <br />Center installs already wired for EV charging. <br />Cost: $68,600 annual <br />B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED <br />The County established a leadership role in the electrification of transportation in 2013 when it <br />installed, owned, and operated 7 dual port charging stations. In addition to the 7 stations That <br />was installed (2013) infrastructure was constructed to accommodate additional charging units to <br />be installed. Currently none of the chargers work at Aupuni Center and the County Building in <br />Hilo and only 1 out of 3 charging stations at the West Hawaii Civic Center are fully operational. <br />The warranty for the existing charge station expired M 6 years ago. <br />This multi -year contract is with Sustainability Partners with a minimum term of 10 years. The <br />County will be making estimated payments of making payments of-$5,717 per month for 22 <br />charging ports. The payment covers the cost of the equipment, design engineering, permitting, <br />construction, installation, wireless access control application, web -based data storage, <br />maintenance and operations. <br />The charging station permitting, installation, ownership, and maintenance remain with <br />Sustainability Partners.
