COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO. 590 24 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO USA VOLLEYBALL, <br />INC., FOR EXPENSES RELATING TO THE LABOR DAY CLASSIC VOLLEYBALL <br />TOURNAMENT. <br />WHEREAS, USA Volleyball, Inc. (UVI), doing business as Moku 0 Keawe, is a <br />5 01 (c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to: 1) organize youth volleyball programs, 2) <br />provide opportunities for players to participate and improve their volleyball skills in a <br />competitive, safe, and healthy environment, and 3) train youth to compete in local, state, <br />national, and international volleyball tournaments; and <br />WHEREAS, UVI is the fiscal sponsor of the Labor Day Classic Volleyball Tournament, <br />which is a community event that promotes volleyball as an important sport and supports our <br />youth in an athletic competition dedicated to fostering growth and education; and <br />WHEREAS, the Labor Day Classic Volleyball Tournament will be held August 29 to <br />September 1, 2024, at the Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium; and <br />WHEREAS, UVI is requesting funds to assist with the rental of the facility and PA <br />system equipment, as well as purchasing refreshments for the volunteers helping at the event; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports safe, alcohol -free, and drug -free <br />programs and events that enrich the lives of our youth and community members; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency <br />Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution <br />identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, <br />equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAPI that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Liquor Control to provide a grant to UVI for expenses relating to the Labor Day Classic <br />Volleyball Tournament. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
