COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII RESOLUTION NO. 590 24 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO USA VOLLEYBALL, INC., FOR EXPENSES RELATING TO THE LABOR DAY CLASSIC VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT. WHEREAS, USA Volleyball, Inc. (UVI), doing business as Moku 0 Keawe, is a 5 01 (c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to: 1) organize youth volleyball programs, 2) provide opportunities for players to participate and improve their volleyball skills in a competitive, safe, and healthy environment, and 3) train youth to compete in local, state, national, and international volleyball tournaments; and WHEREAS, UVI is the fiscal sponsor of the Labor Day Classic Volleyball Tournament, which is a community event that promotes volleyball as an important sport and supports our youth in an athletic competition dedicated to fostering growth and education; and WHEREAS, the Labor Day Classic Volleyball Tournament will be held August 29 to September 1, 2024, at the Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium; and WHEREAS, UVI is requesting funds to assist with the rental of the facility and PA system equipment, as well as purchasing refreshments for the volunteers helping at the event; and WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports safe, alcohol -free, and drug -free programs and events that enrich the lives of our youth and community members; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAPI that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to UVI for expenses relating to the Labor Day Classic Volleyball Tournament. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
