JMSY'�F''... <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII +' =' • <br /> STATE OF HAWAI I <br /> BILL NO. 140 <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 24 57 <br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 20 OF THE HAWAI`I COUNTY CODE 1983 <br /> (2016 EDITION, AS AMENDED), RELATING TO SOLID WASTE FACILITIES. <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII: <br /> SECTION 1. Purpose. The purpose of this ordinance is to ensure all Hawai`i County <br /> residents equitable access to essential waste disposal and recycling services by mandating a <br /> consistent and minimum level of operation at all Hawai`i County transfer stations. Recognizing <br /> the critical role these facilities play in public health and environmental preservation, this <br /> ordinance aims to ensure that no community is disproportionately affected by a lack of access to <br /> waste disposal or recycling services. <br /> SECTION 2. Chapter 20, article 2, division 1, of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2016 <br /> Edition, as amended) is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to <br /> read as follows: <br /> "Section 20- - . SWD facilities; minimum days of operation. <br /> Any SWD facility used for the disposal, collection, and transfer of household solid <br /> waste shall be operated and open to the public for such purposes no less than two days a <br /> week." <br /> SECTION 3. New material is underscored. In printing this ordinance, the underscoring <br /> need not be included. <br /> SECTION 4. Severability.
