COUNTY OF HAWAH STATE OF HAWAI'I <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 596 24 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE FRIENDS OF <br /> FIRST RESPONDERS TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES FOR THE 2025 APPRECIATION <br /> WEEKS. <br /> WHEREAS, the Friends of First Responders (FOFR) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit <br /> organization committed to providing support and resources to strengthen the health and wellness <br /> of first responders and their families; and <br /> WHEREAS,the FOFR is working in collaboration with our island first responder <br /> agencies,which includes but is not limited to, police, fire, emergency medical services, <br /> corrections, sheriffs, park rangers, and Civil Defense to support the 2025 Appreciation Weeks; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, Public Safety Telecommunications Week will be held April 13-19, 2025; <br /> Corrections Week on May 4-10, 2025; Police Week on May 11-17, 2025; and Emergency <br /> Medical Services (EMS) on May 18-24, 2025; and <br /> WHEREAS, the FOFR is requesting funds to assist with expenses for graphic design <br /> creations for promotional material such as banners, signs and flyers; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports programs and activities that <br /> promote education and well-being in a drug-free and alcohol-free environment, such as the <br /> acknowledging first responders during Appreciation Weeks in 2025; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Director of Liquor <br /> Control to provide a grant to the Friends of First Responders to assist with expenses for the 2025 <br /> Appreciation Weeks. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
