The subject property is located at 64-983 Mamalahoa Highway, <br />approximately one mile east of its intersection with Kawaihae Road, Pu`ukapu Homesteads, <br />South Kohala, Hawaii, TMK: (3) 6-4-024:027. <br />The Planning Director recommended favorable consideration of the request to the County <br />Council. The Commission, however, after considering the entire record and testimony, voted to <br />forward an unfavorable recommendation to the County Council based on concerns about the lack <br />of community engagement, flooding, and traffic safety. <br />At the Commission's July 18, 2024, meeting, a motion was made and seconded to rescind the <br />motion made at the June 20, 2024, meeting for an unfavorable recommendation, however the <br />motion failed. <br />Hawaii County is an Equal Opportunity Provider and Employer <br />
