V OF.il <br />ly <br />COUNTY OF HAWAIJ STATE OF HAWAIJ <br />RESOLUTION NO. 610 24 <br />A RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE DIRECTOR OF INFORMATION <br />TECHNOLOGY AND THE COUNTY CLERK TO IMPROVE THE FUNCTIONALITY <br />OF THE COUNTY WEBSITE TO PROMOTE PUBLIC ACCESS TO THE <br />LEGISLATIVE PROCESS. <br />WHEREAS, the County's website is an invaluable tool for greater openness and <br />transparency in government actions, and provides an opportunity for citizens of all ages to learn <br />about and engage with the legislative process; and <br />WHEREAS, the Council finds that the current design and user interface of the County's <br />website is in need of various improvements to better serve the public as a platform for <br />information and participation relating to the legislative process; and <br />WHEREAS, the measure tracking capability of the Hawaii State Legislature website is <br />a high -quality example to model potential improvements on; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAIII that this <br />body hereby requests the Director of Information Technology and the County Clerk to develop <br />and implement various improvements to the County of Hawaii website that expand accessibility <br />and functionality for the public to view and track proposed legislation through the legislative <br />process, including, but not limited to, a summary description, dates of previous and upcoming <br />hearings, recorded votes and actions, dates of presentation to the Mayor and mayoral action, final <br />disposition of a measure, and other relevant information. <br />
