#44 COUNTY OF HAWAVI STATE OF HAWAVI +rE';D;F RESOLUTION NO. 626 24 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO MALAMA 0 PUNA TO ASSIST KEA'AU MIDDLE SCHOOL WITH BUS TRANSPORTATION FOR ITS YOUTH LEADERSHIP ACTIVITIES IN THE 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR. WHEREAS, Malama 0 Puna (MOP) is a 5 01 (c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide community resources to maintain a safe and healthy community through environmental education, hands-on projects, advocacy, watchdogging, and land trusting; and WHEREAS, Kea'au Middle School is coordinating activities for its leadership class in the fall and spring semesters of the 2024-2025 school year that include visits to the County Building, State Judiciary, and Youth Congress Hawaii Sustainability Summit in Kona; and WHEREAS, MOP supports youth activities that foster a sense of community and enhance the social and emotional well-being of students from the Puna region; and WHEREAS, as the fiscal sponsor for these youth leadership activities, MOP is requesting funds to provide bus transportation for the Kea'au Middle School's leadership class to attend these activities; and WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports drug -free and alcohol -free events and activities that enrich the lives of community members; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAIII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to Malama 0 Puna to assist Kea'au Middle School with bus transportation for its youth leadership activities in the 2024-2025 school year. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
