JNtrrOf <br />COUNTY OF HAWAIJ is STATE OF HAWAIJ <br />OF Vt <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2 4 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HOLUALOA <br />FOUNDATION FOR ARTS AND CULTURE TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES FOR THE <br />"COOL FUSION: FESTIVAL OF 1,000 BOWLS" EVENT AT THE DONKEY MILL <br />ART CENTER. <br />WHEREAS, the H61ualoa Foundation for Arts and Culture is a 5 01 (c)(3) nonprofit <br />organization that provides art programs and education for children and adults of all ages and <br />abilities at the Donkey Mill Art Center in H61ualoa; and <br />WHEREAS, the Donkey Mill Art Center is a community art center serving the West <br />Hawaii community and local schools through hands-on classes, exhibitions, and events <br />showcasing contemporary arts, crafts, and culture; and <br />WHEREAS, the "Cool Fusion: Festival of 1,000 Bowls" will be held on September 21, <br />2024, at the Donkey Mill Art Center, which will include hand -thrown bowls made by local <br />artists, interactive art activities, live music, Korean ceramic and culinary traditions, as well as an <br />opportunity to meet and learn from a visiting artist -in -residence who will conduct a pop-up <br />lecture and pottery demonstration; and <br />WHEREAS, the H61ualoa Foundation for Arts and Culture is requesting funds for the <br />rental of tables and chairs, printing of posters and postcards, event signage, and video production <br />of the pop-up lecture and pottery demonstration by the visiting artist at the "Cool Fusion: <br />Festival of 1,000 Bowls"; and <br />WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Research and Development is to <br />support economic development through projects and events that build community such as those <br />that are held at the Donkey Mill Art Center; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br />service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAFI that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Research and Development to provide a grant to H61ualoa Foundation for Arts and Culture to <br />assist with expenses for the "Cool Fusion: Festival of 1,000 Bowls" event at the Donkey Mill Art <br />Center. <br />
