JMt-4 0! <br />COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO. 645 24 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO FRIENDS OF THE <br />CHILDREN'S JUSTICE CENTER OF EAST HAWAI'I, INC., TO ASSIST WITH ITS <br />EMERGENCY CLOSET PROGRAM. <br />WHEREAS, Friends of the Children's Justice Center of East Hawaii, Inc., (FCJCEH) is <br />a 5 0 1 (c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to meet the needs of abused and neglected <br />children of East Hawaii and to educate the public about child abuse; and <br />WHEREAS, FCJCEH's 24-hour Emergency Closet program provides basic necessities <br />and other essential items to help children who are victims of abuse; and <br />WHEREAS, FCJCEH is requesting funds to assist with purchasing items for its <br />Emergency Closet program that include clothing, footwear, hygiene and grooming items, <br />bathroom essentials, dental supplies, furniture (shelves, wardrobes, desks, desk lamps, bed <br />frames, mattresses), bedding, luggage, duffle bags, backpacks, school supplies, laptops for <br />homework, laptop bags, chargers, headphones, earbuds, car seats, baby diapers and wipes, baby <br />food and feeding essentials (formula, bottles, nipples, utensils, cups, etc.), pacifiers, educational <br />and therapeutic toys, coloring books, first aid kits, sanitation items, plastic storage bags and bins, <br />flashlights, head lamps, batteries, bicycles, and athletic gear (helmets, pads, braces, shin guards, <br />hand wraps, hand grips, bandages, swimsuits, swim caps, etc.); and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations that bring <br />awareness and education to our youth and community on living a healthy, alcohol -free, and drug - <br />free lifestyle; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br />service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAFI that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Liquor Control to provide a grant to Friends of the Children's Justice Center of East Hawaii, Inc., <br />to assist with its Emergency Closet program. <br />
