COUNTY OF HAWAIJ STATE OF HAWAIJ OF RESOLUTION NO. 649 24 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE NA'ALEHU THEATRE FOR THE 3RD ANNUAL ALOHA SHIRT FESTIVAL. WHEREAS, Nd'dlehu Theatre is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to present and produce educational programs in the performing arts including drama, dance, music, and Hawaiian cultural programs; and WHEREAS, Nd'dlehu Theatre is hosting the 3rd Annual Aloha Shirt Festival that will be held October 3-6, 2024, at the Outrigger Kona Resort and Spa, which is a celebration of Hawai'i's fashion legacy, combining both traditional and contemporary wearable arts to showcase the islands' unique contributions to the industry; and WHEREAS, the festival offers a range of cultural and creative experiences each day including live music and hula, a pop-up marketplace, workshops, a lei competition, fashion shows, and a vintage "aloha wear" exhibit; and WHEREAS, Nd'dlehu Theatre is requesting funds for a hula hdlau to hold the festival's opening cultural protocol and a series of traditional workshops and demonstrations; and WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports drug -free and alcohol -free events that enrich the lives of community members; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAIJ that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Nd'dlehu Theatre for the 3rd Annual Aloha Shirt Festival. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
