COUNTY OF HAWAVI <br />STATE OF HAWAVI <br />RESOLUTION NO. 668 24 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE LO'I <br />COLLECTIVE FOUNDATION FOR ITS ACCESSIBLE YOUTH ATHLETIC <br />PROGRAM. <br />WHEREAS, The Lo'i Collective Foundation (TLCF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit <br />organization whose objective is to aid all ages with physical, cultural, and psychological <br />development rooted in philosophies of sport, movement, mental health, cultural preservation, and <br />sustainability; and <br />WHEREAS, TLCF's programming is designed to offset operational costs for youth and <br />high school sports teams through scholarships funded by grants, corporate sponsorships, <br />donations, and other revenue -producing programs; and <br />WHEREAS, TLCF's Accessible Youth Athletic Program provides opportunities for <br />students and their families, as well as coaches and officials, to develop their skill sets through <br />sports clinics, tournaments, and trainings at district park facilities free of charge; and <br />WHEREAS, volleyball and basketball clinics will be held at the William "Billy" Kenoi <br />District Park gymnasium from November 2024 through June 2025; and <br />WHEREAS, TLCF is requesting funds for athletic trainers, security personnel, sports <br />equipment (volleyballs, basketballs, and ball carts will be donated to the district park facility), <br />food and refreshments for participants, and participation kits (backpacks, school and sports <br />supplies, snacks, and reusable sports bottles); and <br />WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Parks and Recreation is to provide <br />the public with many diversified recreation programs in parks and gyms that address the needs <br />and interests of the community in a safe and well -maintained environment; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br />service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI'I that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to The Lo'i Collective Foundation for its Accessible <br />Youth Athletic Program. <br />
