J�(YIOF H,W <br />COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br />ff •: MOW •'\ <br />,rE�OF'MF'� <br />RESOLUTION NO. 674 24 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE LO`I <br />COLLECTIVE FOUNDATION FOR ITS ACCESSIBLE YOUTH ATHLETIC <br />PROGRAM. <br />WHEREAS, The Lo`i Collective Foundation (TLCF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit <br />organization whose objective is to aid all ages with physical, cultural, and psychological <br />development rooted in philosophies of sport, movement, mental health, cultural preservation, and <br />sustainability; and <br />WHEREAS, TLCF's Accessible Youth Athletic Program (AYAP) provides opportunities <br />for student athletes, their families, coaches, and officials to develop their skill sets through sports <br />clinics, tournaments, and trainings at district park facilities, free of charge; and <br />WHEREAS, TLCF's AYAP will host volleyball, basketball, and wrestling clinics and <br />tournaments, as well as officiating trainings from October 2024 through March 2025 in Council <br />Districts 1 and 9; and <br />WHEREAS, TLCF is requesting funds to assist with hosting its sports clinics, <br />tournaments, and trainings, which include expenses for security, officials, athletic trainers, sports <br />equipment (volleyballs, basketballs, and ball carts will be donated to County park facilities), <br />refreshments, participation kits (backpacks, school and sports supplies, snacks, and reusable <br />sports bottles), and event banners; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation provides and facilitates a wide <br />array of services and programs that meet the needs of the Hawaii Island community and is <br />supportive of this initiative to provide recreational opportunities for youth; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br />activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to The Lo`i Collective Foundation for its Accessible <br />Youth Athletic Program. <br />
