�e<"'OF New <br />4O• • L � 7i� <br />COUNTY OF HAWAI`I STATE OF HAWAI`I <br />+T,rf•OF •M A�1„� <br />RESOLUTION NO. 686 24 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING THE SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE WAIMEA <br />PRESERVATION ASSOCIATION FOR ITS WAIKOLOA CERT PROJECT. <br />WHEREAS, the Waimea Preservation Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization <br />whose mission is to bring people together to protect and honor the cultural, historical, and natural <br />resources of Waimea; and <br />WHEREAS, the Waikoloa CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) is a unit of <br />volunteers dedicated to preparing for and responding to hazards that threaten its communities; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Waikoloa CERT training and preparation will allow community <br />members to respond and assist each other by providing damage assessment, search and rescue, <br />first aid, and communication in those hours between an incident and the return of services from <br />official first responders; and <br />WHEREAS, the Waimea Preservation Association, in partnership with the Waikoloa <br />CERT, is requesting funds for replacement storage batteries and accessories, GMRS radios and <br />rechargeable batteries, and HAM radios and rechargeable batteries; and <br />WHEREAS the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations that provide <br />community projects and activities in a drug- and alcohol -free environment such as the Waikoloa <br />CERT project; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-1.39(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br />activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Waimea Preservation Association to support the <br />programs and activities of the Waikoloa CERT. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
