COUNTY OF HAWAI`I - STATE OF HAWAII �tF OF N►'� RESOLUTION NO. A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO FRIENDS OF THE CHILDREN'S JUSTICE CENTER OF EAST HAWAI`I, INC., TO ASSIST WITH ITS EMERGENCY CLOSET PROGRAM. WHEREAS, Friends of the Children's Justice Center of East Hawaii, Inc., (FCJCEH) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to meet the needs of abused and neglected children of East Hawaii and to educate the public about child abuse; and WHEREAS, FCJCEH's 24-hour Emergency Closet program offers basic necessities and other essential items to help children who are victims of abuse, offering them immediate comfort and a sense of security during times of crisis; and WHEREAS, the Emergency Closet ensures that children have a safe, comfortable, and dignified place to rest and store their belongings when transitioned to a more stable environment; and WHEREAS, FCJCEH is requesting funds to support the purchase of much needed items for its Emergency Closet, include clothing, footwear, hygiene and grooming items, bathroom essentials, and dental supplies; and WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney supports domestic and family violence prevention and intervention initiatives to identify needs; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to the Friends of the Children's Justice Center of East Hawaii, Inc., to assist with its Emergency Closet program. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
