Chair- and Members of the Hawaii County Council County of Hawai i Hilo, Hawaii 96720 SUBJECT: Department of Finance Evaluations of the 2024 Applications for Stewardship Grants from the Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation Maintenance Fund Dear Council Chair Kimball and Members of the County Council: The Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation Commission (PONC) reviewed twelve 2024 Maintenance Stewardship Grant applications and forwarded their recommendations to the Department of Finance with the condition that the Department needed to review each application to identify any duplications that may have been covered in previous year's grant awards, evaluate the proposed budgets, and ensure that expenses that do not comply with the Hawaii County Charter and Code are separated from those that can be approved. In accordance with the Hawaii County Charter Section 10-16(h)(8), the Department of Finance has completed its review of all applications and is pleased to submit the following 2024-2025 PONC Stewardship Grant award recommendations to the Council: 1.
