JSVfOF N4 <br />COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br />rE oF•Nt•. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 708 24. <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO KAHALU`U <br />KUAHEWA FOR THE REVITALIZATION OF THE WAHI KUPUNA KAHALU`U <br />FIELD SYSTEM. <br />WHEREAS, Kahalu`u Kuahewa is a 501(c)(3) community -based, nonprofit organization <br />whose mission is to uplift the collective of aina, community, and culture, and preserve ancestral <br />knowledge by reconnecting people to the land; and <br />WHEREAS, Kahalu`u Kuahewa is working to revitalize the wahi kupuna (ancestral site) <br />Kahalu`u Field System as a traditional Hawaiian agricultural landscape through indigenous <br />grassroots iniatives and sustainable restorative agricultural practices that reconnects kanaka to <br />`aina; and <br />WHEREAS, Kahalu`u Kuahewa is requesting funds for materials and supplies (gas, oil, <br />propane, grass cutting line, compost, fertilizer and input materials, pots, potting soil, tools, etc.) <br />for maintenance of the trails, fence, water catchment, nursery, and invasive weeds, as well as <br />printing resources, gloves, and refreshments for community engagement; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations and programs that <br />promote the health, safety, and welfare of communities in a drug -free and alcohol -free <br />environment; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br />service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Liquor Control to provide a grant to Kahalu`u Kuahewa for the revitalization of the wahi kupuna <br />Kahalu`u Field System. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
