COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br />Te: w: row •r <br />TEOFM' <br />RESOLUTION NO. %► <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE KEAUKAHA <br />COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION FOR KEAUKAHA'S 100TH ANNIVERSARY <br />CELEBRATION. <br />WHEREAS, the Keaukaha Community Association, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, <br />is the official representative body of the Native Hawaiian families living in Keaukaha whose <br />mission is to engage and support Hawaiian Home Land beneficiaries; and <br />WHEREAS, on December 16, 1924, over 60 Native Hawaiian families were awarded <br />leases in the Keaukaha community making it the oldest Hawaiian Home Lands community on <br />Hawaii Island and the second homestead project in the State after Kalama`ula on Molokai; and <br />WHEREAS, on December 16, 2024, the Keaukaha community will celebrate its 100th <br />anniversary milestone at Keaukaha Beach Park with an event designed to foster and strengthen <br />community relationships through the sharing of food and entertainment, historical photos and <br />videos, and interactive educational displays; and <br />WHEREAS, the Keaukaha Community Association is requesting funds for a <br />reimbursement of expenses for decorations and the rental of tents, chairs, tables, and generators; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports this event as it is in <br />keeping with the goals and objectives of the department to provide diversified recreational <br />activities that address the needs and interests of the respective communities in a safe and <br />welcoming environment; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br />service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to the Keaukaha Community Association for Keaukaha's <br />100th anniversary celebration. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
