J�SV OF H,w COUNTY OF HAWAFI STATE OF HAWAI`I ,TE•OFNF'� RESOLUTION NO. 25 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE FRIENDS OF LILI`UOKALANI GARDENS FOR ITS 8TH ANNUAL GARDEN ENCHANTMENT. WHEREAS, the Friends of Lili`uokalani Gardens is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that prepares for activities and festive events throughout the year and is dedicated to fostering, improving, and maintaining the 24-acre cultural landscape at Lili`uokalam Gardens; and WHEREAS, thousands of visitors and residents participate in a variety of activities and community events at Lili`uokalani Gardens; and WHEREAS, on December 23-24, 2024, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., the Friends of Lili`uokalani Gardens will be hosting its "Garden Enchantment", a Christmas in the park event, where visitors and residents will be able to walk through or drive past the park to view the different trees being lit up in the spirit of the season; and WHEREAS, the Friends of Lili`uokalani Gardens is requesting funds to cover expenses for the rental of portable luas for the event; and WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Liquor Control is to support public programs that promote the safety and well-being of the community in a drug- and alcohol -free environment; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Friends of Lili`uokalani Gardens for its 8th Annual Garden Enchantment. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
