JwiV OF it <br />COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br />tl •ea wok.' <br />�rE�oc'Hr.P <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO OCEAN VIEW <br />SKATEPARK ASSOCIATION TO PURCHASE SUPPLIES AND EQUIPMENT TO <br />CONSTRUCT A DISC GOLF COURSE AT KAHUKU PARK. <br />WHEREAS, Ocean View Skatepark Association (OVSA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit <br />organization that advocates for the overall health of keiki and adults by supporting access to a <br />variety of physical activities for the communities in South Kona and Ka`u; and <br />WHEREAS, physical activity improves mental and physical health, strengthens bones <br />and muscles, improves motor and cognitive development in children and adolescents, and <br />improves sleep; and <br />WHEREAS, disc golf is a sport that is played much like golf, but instead of a ball and <br />clubs, players throw a flying disc at a target (a standing metal basket with chains) with the <br />objective of completing each hole in the fewest throws; and <br />WHEREAS, with the help of volunteers, OVSA would like to construct a nine -hole disc <br />golf course at Kahuku Park for the community to enjoy; and <br />WHEREAS, OVSA is requesting funds to purchase concrete, signs, flags, discs, baskets, <br />and bases for the baskets, as well as a freight charge for shipping the flags, baskets, and bases; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports OVSA and its continued <br />efforts to provide a safe place for community engagement and activities that encourage healthy <br />lifestyles for our island residents; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific project, event, activity, service, <br />materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to OVSA to purchase supplies and equipment to <br />construct a disc golf course at Kahuku Park. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
