COUNTY OF HAWAI`I <br />STATE OF HAWAI`I <br />RESOLUTION NO. 4S 25 <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING THE AWARD OF FUNDS TO ROOTS <br />ADVOCATES FOR YOUTH BY THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND <br />RECREATION <br />WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawaii <br />County Code (2016 Edition as amended) states, Grant awards in excess of $25,000 <br />to nonprofit organizations shall specifically identify the organization receiving the <br />grant funds and the purpose for which the grant funds shall be used in a resolution; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-136 of the Hawaii County Code <br />states, "Nonprofit organization" means an organization that is registered and in good <br />standing in the State of Hawaii as a nonprofit organization and maintains a 501(c)(3) <br />charitable designation from the Internal Revenue Service.; and <br />WHEREAS Roots Advocates for Youth, which qualifies as a nonprofit <br />organization as defined above, will utilize the funds for their Roots Skate Park Phase <br />three project at Kamehameha Park in North Kohala; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation wishes to provide <br />$50,000 to Roots Advocates for Youth; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I, in <br />accordance with Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawaii County <br />Code, the Department of Parks and Recreation has approval to award $50,000 in grant <br />funds to Roots Advocates for Youth. <br />
