JMSV OF H��Y O COUNTY OF HAWAII =t STATE OF HAWAI`I �rE oF•Nr.� RESOLUTION NO. 84 25 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE PAHOA LAVA ZONE MUSEUM TO SUPPORT ITS HAWAI`I ISLAND PAPA HOLUA PROJECT. WHEREAS, the Pdhoa Lava Zone Museum is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide public, historic, scientific, and educational information to tourists and local residents regarding the geology and impacts of Hawaii Island's volcanic events for the benefit of the Pdhoa community and to promote regenerative tourism in the Lower Puna district; and WHEREAS, the Pdhoa Lava Zone Museum increases cultural awareness through its Hawaii Island Papa Holua Project, a controlled, modern reproduction of an ancient Hawaiian pastime that involved sliding down steep slopes of hardened lava fields; and WHEREAS, the Pdhoa Lava Zone Museum is requesting funds to purchase a trailer to transport its portable holua slide to community events around Hawaii Island; and WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports drug -free and alcohol -free events that enrich the lives of community members; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Pdhoa Lava Zone Museum for its Hawaii Island Papa H61ua Project. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
