JMtY'OF k,�Y <br />COUNTY OF HAWAI`I STATE OF HAWAI`I <br />rE6f N!' <br />RESOLUTION NO. :100 2 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE ZONTA CLUB OF <br />HILO FOUNDATION FOR ITS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE THERAPY THROUGH ART <br />WHEREAS, the Zonta Club of Hilo Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization <br />whose mission is to empower women and girls through public service and advocacy; and <br />WHEREAS, the Zonta Club of Hilo Foundation, in collaboration with Child and Family <br />Service and Temple Children, is implementing a Domestic Violence Therapy Through Art <br />program utilizing "The Place that Hurts and Glitters" platform of Swedish artist Ishtar Backlund <br />Dakhil; and <br />WHEREAS, the Domestic Violence Therapy Through Art program will offer survivors <br />of domestic violence free therapeutic workshops with artist Ishtar Backlund Dakhil, providing a <br />safe space for participants to express their personal experiences through visual art while fostering <br />healing, artistic exploration, and mutual support; and <br />WHEREAS, the workshops will be held from the end of February through the end of <br />March, then the collaborative artwork of the participants will be installed within the community <br />as a lasting representation of resilience and recovery; and <br />WHEREAS, the Zonta Club of Hilo Foundation is requesting funds for art instructor <br />fees, acrylic paint, mixed -media paper, paintbrushes, and palette knives, as well as expenses for <br />the final artwork installation that include audio and video documentation, wood panels, paint, <br />rollers, trays, and fasteners to secure the artwork in place; and <br />WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney supports domestic and family <br />violence prevention and intervention initiatives by identifying areas of need and working <br />collaboratively with other criminal justice agencies and community programs; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br />service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Office of the <br />Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to the Zonta Club of Hilo Foundation for its Domestic <br />Violence Therapy Through Art program. <br />
