COUNTY OF HAWAPI STATE OF HAWAI`I <br />10 — <br />itf OF •Mail <br />RESOLUTION NO. 104 25 <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN <br />INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT WITH THE FEDERAL <br />BUREAU OF INVESTIGATIONS TO SUPPORT THEIR CONTINUED <br />COOPERATION WITH THE HAWAI`I POLICE DEPARTMENT FOR <br />THE SAFETY OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I. <br />WHEREAS, Hawaii Revised Statutes Section 46-7 requires the County to obtain <br />consent of the Council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments <br />respecting action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, <br />expend, and receive any funds or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be <br />undertaken pursuant to those powers; and <br />WHEREAS, the Hawaii Police Department desires the ability to enter into an <br />updated Memorandum of Understanding with the Federal Bureau of Investigations ("FBI") <br />that allows continued inter -agency collaboration to identify and target for prosecution <br />criminal enterprise groups responsible for drug trafficking and money laundering; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I <br />that in accordance with Hawaii Revised Statutes Section 46-7, the Mayor of the County of <br />Hawaii is authorized to execute, on behalf of the County, an intergovernmental agreement <br />with the Federal Bureau of Investigations for the purpose of serving and protecting the <br />County of Hawai `i. <br />
