J+tv�oF N,�7 COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII �rE•Of H'� RESOLUTION NO. 108 25 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT FOR THE 2025 OUTSTANDING OLDER AMERICANS MONTH AWARD LUNCHEON. WHEREAS, May is recognized as Older Americans Month (OAM), a time to celebrate and honor the contributions that seniors have made and continue to make in our community and our nation; and WHEREAS, OAM dates back to 1963 when President John F. Kennedy, through a proclamation, designated May as Senior Citizens Month, which was later renamed Older Americans Month; and WHEREAS, the Office of Aging, as the designated Area Agency on Aging, represents the County of Hawaii in the planning, coordination, advocacy, and administration of programs that enable older people to live independently and with dignity; and WHEREAS, the annual Outstanding OAM Award Luncheon is an event sponsored by the Office of Aging, which honors older adults who contribute and make a difference in their communities; and WHEREAS, the 2025 Outstanding OAM Award Luncheon is scheduled to occur on May 9, 2025, at the Hilton Waikoloa Village, as part of a national observance of OAM with this year's theme, Flip the Script on Aging, which aims to transform how society perceives, talks about, and approaches aging; and WHEREAS, the Office of Aging is requesting funds for expenses related to the 2025 Outstanding OAM Award Luncheon, which includes bus rental fees to transport kupuna from Pahoa, Puna, Kea`au, Hilo, Pepe`ekeo, Pa`auilo, Honoka`a, and Waimea to and from the event; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Office of Aging for the 2025 Outstanding OAM Award Luncheon. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
