4�'L .ice <br />COUNTY OF HAWAII +_ STATE OF HAWAII <br />�rE of i+►� <br />RESOLUTION NO. .0 25 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO D.A.R.E. HAWAI`I TO <br />ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATING TO ITS 2025 D.A.R.E. DAY CELEBRATION <br />EVENT IN EAST HAWAI`I. <br />WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawaii is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that teaches our <br />youth to make safe and responsible decisions, to resist alcohol, drugs, tobacco, and violence, to <br />avoid risky situations, and to lead a safe and healthy life; and <br />WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawaii is conducting an East Hawaii D.A.R.E. Day to celebrate <br />the graduation of East Hawaii students who complete the 10-week Drug Abuse Resistance <br />Educational (D.A.R.E.) curriculum, scheduled for May 20, 2025 at the Charles "Sparky" <br />Kawamoto Swim Stadium; and <br />WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawaii is requesting funds for food and refreshments, items for <br />activities, games and contests, and inflatable waterslide rentals to celebrate and recognize their <br />achievement; and <br />WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Liquor Control is to support youth <br />programs that promote public safety, education, and responsible lifestyle choices in alcohol- and <br />drug -free environments; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br />activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Liquor Control to provide a grant to D.A.R.E. Hawaii for the aforementioned expenses relating <br />to its 2025 D.A.R.E. Day Celebration event in East Hawaii. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
