In 2,000 characters or less, describe the project. <br />The purpose of this project is to connect the Big Island community, as well as visitors, to the rich culture of the Hamakua coast. Our project aims to engage our <br />participants in the agricultural and paniolo heritage that our island is known for. Besides helping perpetuate our unique cultural traditions, we strive to educate and foster <br />our community in healthy and engaging ways. <br />*47. 501(c)(3) Mission Statement <br />Hamakua Health Center, Inc. serves Hawaii Island by providing accessible, affordable, quality health care and educational services with an emphasis on individual and <br />community wellness. <br />*48. In 1,000 characters or less, explain how the 501(c)(3) is connected to the project. <br />Reinforcing the values of community, HHC provides strong support of the Honoka`a and paniolo population through decades of service of individual and community <br />wellness. Such an annual event provides community wellness in celebrating its history and livelihoods of past, present and future, allowing for mental and emotional <br />health benefits, and the important educational opportunities throughout its event. <br />*49. According to §2-136, "public purpose" is defined as a benefit to, improvement of, or promotion of the interests in the following areas. In 2,000 characters or less, describe the measurable outcomes you aim to achieve with these funds. <br />Besides helping perpetuate our unique cultural traditions, we strive to educate and foster our community in healthy and engaging ways. With ten days of events, we <br />have something for ever/one. At the Parade and Block Party alone, we include free educational and resource vendors for the estimated 2-3,000 attendees. Other <br />educational components include partnerships with the Honoka' a Heritage Center, Hawai' i Saddle Club, Ko Education Center, the Honoka' a Public Ubrary and the <br />Hamakua Youth Center to provide engaging learning for a variety of age ranges. These events help showcase the historic significance of our area and the importance of <br />paniolc lifestyle in our culture. Alongside the plethora of educational opportunities, we include cultural and artistic events, such as cooking contests, talent shows, <br />decorating competitions and more.
