G 25 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO D.A.R.E. HAWAI`I TO <br />PURCHASE KEIKI I.D. EQUIPMENT. <br />WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawaii is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission <br />includes encouraging youth to relate to law enforcement as people of the community through <br />interactions that create an open dialogue between the schools, police, and parents; and <br />WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawaii is working with the Hawaii Police Department's <br />Community Policing Officers to implement the Keiki I.D. program, a safety measure designed to <br />provide identification cards for children between the ages of five and 14; and <br />WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawaii is requesting funds to purchase Keiki I.D. equipment to <br />be used at Keiki I.D. stations at various community events held throughout the year, primarily in <br />the Ka`u and South Kona Districts; and <br />WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Liquor Control is to support youth <br />programs that promote public safety, education, and responsible lifestyle choices in an alcohol - <br />and drug -free activities, such as D.A.R.E. for the Keiki I.D. program; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(C) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br />activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Liquor Control to provide a grant to D.A.R.E. Hawaii to purchase Keiki I.D. equipment to be <br />used primarily for events in the Ka`u and South Kona Districts. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai` i hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
